Reflecting on the future of Education, the CEFA Schools Management flew to Paris to take part in the conference organized by the OIDEL on “Re-imagining the future together – A new social contract for education”.
The event represents an opportunity for the CEFA School Management to discuss and reflect with a group of international experts on the debate opened by UNESCO on the future of education and on the question of identity in the realization of the right to education.
Indeed, Article 5 of the Universal Declaration declares that all people have the right to quality education and training that fully reflects their cultural identity.
The debate is based on a dossier prepared by the International Commission on the Futures of Education under the leadership of Madame Sahle-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia: in the face of the great change initiated by digital and accelerated by the effects of the pandemic especially on educational process, the dossier examines the principles necessary to guide the future of education in order to improve the existence of all living beings on this planet.
The “re-imagining the future together” dossier to ensure inclusion, equity, human rights and peace focuses on some priorities:
- the need to act urgently to change course, because the future of humanity depends on the future of the planet, and both are at risk.
- proposes a new social contract for education, which aims to rebuild our relationships with each other, with the planet and with technology,
- it proposes quality education throughout life, considering teaching and learning as shared social efforts and therefore common goods.
